Update Your Systems

How do you build a successful periodontal practice? Your clinical skills, your team and your office are all key factors, but what connects all three? Your systems do. They act as the connective tissue that holds the practice together. Your practice is your greatest investment, and it is imperative to maximize that investment, especially in this down economy. The stronger your systems, the more successful your practice will be.

If you are using inefficient systems, it will be difficult to achieve your practice potential unless they are updated or redesigned. Practices that have outgrown their systems often experience high-stress, declining customer service and referring doctor issues – all of which can be rectified if the proper systems are put in place.

I recommend redesigning out-of-date systems in a step-by-step manner for maximum efficiency. Documented business systems allow you to bring new team members into the practice and train them quickly and effectively. Many periodontists find it challenging to update their systems on their own, due to the hectic pace of their practices. While system redesign will not happen overnight, it is worth the time and effort to see your practice achieve success.
